Why I Don’t "Name "Haircuts…

The other day one of the students taking my haircutting course asked me why I didn’t “Name” the 56 Haircuts that I teach in the course at: VelascoHaircuttingSystem.com … Here’s my answer.

Throughout my haircutting program, I refer to each of the 56 Haircuts as simply the Haircut Category and the Number of the haircut where it appears in the program only.

For Example: Graduated Haircut #5, Layered Haircut #10, Razor Haircut #6 etc..

Besides, the fact that I couldn’t even possibly think of 56 different names in order to give all of these haircuts a name per’se, I intentionally did not give any of these 56 Haircuts “Names” for 2 reasons.

Reason I:

As soon as you give a haircut a name you dated it. For example, if I say the words “Shag Haircut” you will think 1970s. If I say “The Sauvage” you think 1990s, if I say “Wolfcut” you think 2020s and if I say “Pixie” you think 1960s… The fact of the matter is that ALL of these haircuts and ALL of their variations simply fall into the category of “Layered Haircuts”.

The only difference is the way that the Weight and the Lengths are distributed throughout the haircut. So, once you learn how to do “Layered Haircuts” like I teach in this Haircutting Course, you will be able to cut ALL of these haircuts in ALL of their variations and any future layered hairstyles that may come out at a later date with no problem…. And this same example holds true for One Length Haircuts and Graduated Haircuts as well.

You see, these are all “Classic Haircut Designs”, and in one variation or another, they will always be in style

Hairstyles and Trends, will come and go, but the “Technique” that created these “Trendy Styles” never changes….That’s why in my Haircutting Course, I Don’t Teach Trends, I teach TECHINQUES that allow you to cut ANY HAIRCUT that will fall into either one of these 3 Haircutting Categories.

So, even though in the program we’re cutting 56-Different Haircuts, we’re only cutting in 3 Different Haircutting Categories:

  1. One-Length Haircuts
  2. Graduated Haircuts
  3. Layered Haircuts

Once you learn how to do haircuts in these 3 different haircutting categories using the Techniques that I will teach you in my haircutting course, you will be able to cut ANY Hairstyle that you will ever want to cut for your entire career without ever having to watch another YouTube video or take another haircutting class.

Reason 2:

The other reason I didn’t give any of these haircut’s names, is because every hairdresser and every client will have a different image in mind when they think of the name of a certain haircut.

Again, if I say Shag Haircut, some people will think Short Shag some people will think Long Shag, Medium Shag, Curly Shag, Gypsy Shag. If I say Bob Haircut, you might think Straight Bobs, A-Line Bobs, Graduated Bobs, Layered Bobs, etc.

There’re NO right or wrong answers here, because there are endless VARIATIONS for how you can cut all of these haircuts, so everyone has a different interpretation of what these names mean and how these styles should look.

So, to eliminate any confusion, I decided to simply labeled each haircut with the Haircut Category & Number where they appear in the program.
